Ex-Westchester Academy Olympian Skater Alexia Paganini To Return Home

Alexia Paganini, a 16-year-old from Greenwich who trained at the Westchester Skating Academy in Elmsford, represented Switzerland in the ladies' singles at the Winter Olympics on Friday.

She came in No. 21.

  • Free skating score: 101.00 (22/24)
  • Total score: 156.26 (21/24)

Russia's Alina Zagitova earned the gold medal with 239.57 points. Russia's Evgenia Medvedeva took silver with 238.26.

Canada's Kaitlyn Osmond took bronze with 231.02. 

"This is the reason I work every single day, every sacrifice I’ve made for this sport is all worth it for moments like this," she said in a post on Instagram Friday.

"I am so incredibly thankful that I could represent Switzerland at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games. I truly know what it means to be an Olympian now."
